Benedict Cumberbatch, My Favorite British Star

Hello everyone! My name is Jumi Hwang and I attend at Gaewon Middle School, second grade. I want you to look at the screen. Does anyone know this guy? He is a famous actor not only in England, but also all over the world. Yes, his name is Benedict Cumberbatch.

I am confident of believing (~라 믿어 의심치않다) that every student in this class knows the story ‘Sherlock Holmes.’ It is detective novel which is written by Conan Doyle. In 2010, BBC channel made a drama named ‘Sherlock.’ Sherlock is composed of 3 seasons, and each season contains 3 stories. It became popular because of their interesting story, direction like a movie and attractive voice of Sherlock. Of course it’s not a real Sherlock’s voice. It is Benedict’s voice, because Benedict played a role in genius detective, Sherlock. In my opinion, his voice is one of the sexiest voices in the world. It’s low, deep and his British pronunciation is also charming.

Anyway, I watched Sherlock for the first time last year. Time goes too fast when I am watching ‘Sherlock.’ I can’t figure out how one and half hour goes to (한시간반이어떻게가는지도몰랐다). As I saw Benedict’s picture on the Internet, I wasn’t able to think that he was handsome. But after I watched all series, I could understand why Benedict had a lot of fans. Sometimes, he really looks like a crazy man but it looks cute. I didn’t know, but I was being a big fan of him. I was searching about him, watching his other movies and saving lots of pictures on my phone.

Can you believe he is 37 years old? He was born in 1976. He looks much younger than actually he is. Also, he is celebrated as funny pictures like this. He loves to make a comic face. When I saw it, I felt like he was a mischievous boy. His parents are also actors, too. Maybe he learned acting by his parents. He debuted with British TV series, ‘Heartbeat: The Good Doctor’ at the age of 22. He was an unknown actor at all then, but he won popularity little by little. And he got lots of awards and a lot of fans including me as Sherlock. In May, 2014 he was chosen ‘The 100 Most Influential people’ by <TIME>.

Nowadays, he is busy making film. I am looking forward to seeing Sherlock season 4. I will be Benedict’s fan forever. I always expect his good act. Thank you for listening.
