RE:More homework should be given to students or not
Some people may argue that fewer assignments should be given
to students. However, I think that more teachers should assign students
homework each day. This is because homework is critical to the process of
learning, and because in poor and underperforming schools, teachers often
forget to give students homework.
To begin with, task to students plays an important role in
their study. To be specific, if fewer teachers allocate tasks to students, then
they will barely review their classes. Students become apathetic about their
classes if they are not pushed by their teachers. Times of exposure to the
subjects will be naturally reduced, and this will bring about poor result of
students learning. Let me take my own experience as an example. When I was a
university student, a professor teaching political science which was my minor
assigned regular homework to all the students. Assignment is that students preview
the content before class and summarize it to paper every week. Although that
task was a kind of stress to me, it pushed me to read the entire contents of
the textbook. Compared to this class, I rarely read textbooks completely in
other classes.
On top of that, teachers do not give enough give homework to
students especially in underperforming schools. So to speak, stress often plays
an important role in making progress. If it were not for stress, it is easy for
people to be idle. Likewise, even if assignments can be some sort of stress, it
is also able to be strong stimulus to students. This implies that students in
schools where teachers often forget assign their students task do not receive
enough motivation to study. As a result, it will lead to bad academic
performance. For instance, college education is generally known for its free
scholastic atmosphere. However, someday I saw an article about famous universities
such as Oxford and Harvard all around the world, which stated that professors
in those schools allocate a huge amount of work to students in order for them
to study harder. Accordingly, students have to study diligently to catch up
with their classes. In turn, those schools have produced many men of ability
till now, and this means that many assignments are indispensable for academic
achievement.
In summary, assigning more homework to students is pivotal
for learning process as well as their academic achievement in school. In this
regard, I strongly believe that teachers should allocate students more tasks.
