It is often said that progress is not always good for some cases. When it comes to the statement that making development is an invariable virtue, I strongly agree. This is because society has improved thanks to social progress, and because scientific progress has led to people living longer.

Firstly, if it were not for social progress, we could not live in this society which every member has right to be respected. So to speak, progresses in areas like women’s rights, racial equality have resulted in people happier and more fulfilled lives. Before women have right to be treated as equally as men, they suffered from discriminations in their families and groups regarded as not suitable for women. African-American also underwent severe injustices until they got the same right as white people in The US have. Social progress has given the disadvantaged indisputable right to live like other people. As a result, social progress has achieved society where all the people can live without unfair and enjoy their freedom which can lead to their quality lives.

In addition, people can live longer than in the past due to scientific development. To explain, medical developments like the polio vaccine, antibiotics and AIDS prevention have contributed to longer life expectancies. Before these managements of diseases, a number of infants died and many people could not live longer. However, headway in natural science found out cures for these maladies. Accordingly, people can have right to live like decent human being under given minimum standard of life and can enjoy their lives more because of life extension at this time.

In consideration of this, making step forwards in mankind history has brought about fair society as well as extended human life expectancies. In this respect, I think that progress is beneficial as ever.
